Theo Walcott is ready to leave Arsenal at the end of the season in search of regular first-team football
— and the ambitious Hammers is his likely destination.
Chelsea have also shown an interest in the 27-year-old, but rather he has been attracted to the challenge of assisting West Ham mark their move to the Olympic Stadium by mounting a serious top-four challenge in the Premier League next season.
Gunners are understood to be willing to allow Walcott end his ten-year stay in north London so long as they can get a fee of around £20million for his services.
And the Hammers are willing to meet the demands of the Gunners believing Walcott is exactly the kind of player they need to ensure they establish themselves as one of the top clubs in England.
Co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan are prepared to not only use the increased TV revenue but also dig deep into their own pockets to finance Slaven Bilic’s summer spending.
He has made 231 appearances for the Gunners since joining them as a 17-year-old from Southampton but often found his development hampered by injuries and failure to convince Arsene Wenger he could be relied upon in the big matches.
Hammers co-owner Sullivan has admitted he will spend big this summer, and today claimed he would lodge a bid for a separate English player of up to £25m.
