Gianni Infantino conveyed his appreciation for the prohibited of ex-Uefa boss Michel Platini after the Swiss man was elected Fifa president in Zurich on Friday.
Infantino's predecessor Sepp Blatter, who is serving suspensions – reduced this week to six years from eight- for a "disloyal payment" made by the then-Fifa president to the Frenchman in 2011, but Infantino who received backup of 115 federations in the second of polling at the envoy congress in Zurich, lender his appreciation to Platini.
"The Swiss man told reporters, " I have thanked all those who supported me on this journey", while Platini has maintained his innocence and vowed to take his case to the court Arbitration for Sport.
