Gunners have secured the signature of Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel on a long-term contract, the Premier League club have confirmed.
The Basel playmaker's arrival has been forthcomingness since he missed training on Monday to hold talks with Arsenal and undergo a medical, and he has now put down his signature on a deal worth of £5 million.
The Egyptian's international becomes the first outfield player Arsenal have signed in a year, since arrival of Gabriel from Villarreal last January, with Petr Cech infamously the only signing made over the summer.
